Emulsion LEN50 is a water-based user-friendly silane/siloxane emulsion. After dilution with water, it acts as a water‑repellent sealer that treats neutral substrates such as outdoor timbers or masonry materials. It penetrates into the capillaries of permeable substrate forming a water repellent zone within the treated surface. This water repellent zone significantly reduces the absorption of water which is responsible for the bulk deterioration of substrates. Emulsion LEN50 also functions as a water‑repellent admixture for textured coatings, latex paints, or polymer renders.
Emulsion LEN50 works effectively as a water‑repellent sealer for permeable neutral substrates, including outdoor timber, fabric or paper, natural stone, and polymer render. It also serves as a water‑repellent admixture for textured coatings, latex paints, or polymer renders.
Emulsion LEN50 requires dilution with water before application. A typical starting ratio is 1 part Emulsion to 9 parts deionised water. To achieve the best performance, conduct a test to determine the most suitable dilution ratio for the intended use. Deionised water provides the most reliable results, but low‑mineral local tap water can also be used if testing confirms its suitability.
Emulsion LEN50 applies easily by brush, roller, or spray. For best results, apply it as a saturation coat using a hand‑pressure sprayer or airless spray system, which prevents direct contact between the equipment and the surface. Ensure the surface receives sufficient material. On vertical substrates, apply a second coat immediately after the first coat is absorbed to achieve a wet‑on‑wet application that promotes deeper absorption and penetration. On horizontal surfaces, a single flood‑coat application is often sufficient.
If the sealer is instantly absorbed by the substrate, a second coat may be applied immediately while the surface is still wet. Remove any liquid that has not been absorbed after 5 minutes to prevent excess material from accumulating and causing an uneven finish or surface contamination. The required number of applications depends on the substrate’s permeability. Dense surfaces typically need one or two wet‑on‑wet coats, while highly permeable substrates may require two or more.
Always stir Emulsion LEN50 before use. Mask off window, doors or any areas you do not wish to treat. If accidental splashing occurs, remove the product immediately with a damp cloth to prevent contamination.
The consumption rate varies according to the substrate’s permeability. Very permeable substrates typically require approximately 1–5 m² per litre per coat, while less permeable substrates may require anywhere from 5–40 m² per litre per coat.
Instant surface beading develops once the coating dries, but the water‑repellent effect continues to strengthen over the next 24 hours and may take up to 7 days to fully cure. Avoid heavy traffic for the first 24 hours. Wash application equipment with water immediately after use.
Conduct a pilot test on a small on‑site area before full application to confirm that the product is suitable for the specific substrate.

Emulsion LEN50 may also be used as a water repellent admixture for textured coating, latex paint or polymer render. The product is added at 1-3% by weight into the coating/render during the final in-plant mixing stage. The resultant coating, after full cure, exhibits good surface beading resulting in low water absorption of coating film. In addition, Emulsion LEN50 will also provide early water resistance to the coating film, preventing early wash-down due to rain or dew contacting the coating before cure. The water absorption through the coating film can be reduced by up to 95% after coating is fully cured.
Emulsion LEN50P penetrates the capillaries and renders the surface water‑repellent while keeping the capillaries open so water vapour can evaporate. It reduces water absorption caused by capillary action. However, its resistance to water penetration is limited under prolonged contact or hydrostatic pressure. As a result, very permeable substrates or conditions involving extreme wind‑driven rain may still experience inadequate resistance to water penetration or water‑borne staining.
Emulsion LEN50 is a water‑based, non‑toxic, non‑caustic, user‑friendly product classified as non‑hazardous under Worksafe Australia criteria. As with all chemical products, follow standard industrial hygiene practices during use. Store the product in a closed container in a cool, dry location away from ignition sources. The product has a shelf life of 12 months in a sealed container stored at a temperature below 25 °C.
