Densacrete Premium

Densacrete Premium

Description

DENSACRETE PREMIUM is an oil and water resistant concrete densification sealer based on metal silicates. This non-film forming penetrating sealer blocks capillaries and reacts with the substrate to create a hard, dust-proof, and colour-enhanced finish. DENSACRETE PREMIUM imparts oil and water resistance making it a water and oil-proof concrete finish. Concrete polishing easily achieves a smooth or glossy finish. DENSACRETE PREMIUM does not leave visible residues or efflorescence after treatment.

Recommended Uses

Apply DENSACRETE PREMIUM to densify concrete and deliver oil and water resistance across residential driveways, garage floors, commercial car parks, and factory or warehouse flooring. Applications include treating new and old concrete slabs for strengthening, dust-proofing, and creating oil and water resistance. You can treat other masonry substrates, including natural stone, clay bricks, and ceramic tiles with DENSACRETE PREMIUM. Always conduct a site-specific test before application to confirm product suitability.

The key features of DENSACRETE PREMIUM include:

  • Resists water and oil penetration and reduces oil staining
  • Penetrates and reacts with concrete to ensure durable protection
  • Leaves no visible residues or efflorescence after treatment
  • Enhances concrete colour without changing the surface characteristics
  • Ready-to-use or dilute with water before use
  • Environmentally friendly water-based technology with nil VOC

Use Instructions

Surface Preparation

Before applying DENSACRETE PREMIUM, thoroughly clean the concrete surface to remove any contaminants that could hinder sealer penetration. Allow the surface to dry completely.

Ensure new concrete is properly cured. Remove all curing compounds, release agents, and surface coatings or membranes, then clean and dry the surface before application. If the concrete has been acid treated, fully neutralise it, rinse thoroughly with water, and allow it to dry.

For polished concrete, grind the surface to 200 grit or the desired finish to expose capillaries or aggregates. This step maximises sealer absorption and ensures optimal densification and oil and water resistance with DENSACRETE PREMIUM.

Application

DENSACRETE PREMIUM should be mixed well before use. The sealer may be applied with a low pressure hand sprayer, brush or broom. The product should be evenly flooded onto the surface. Pooling should be avoided. In order to achieve maximum absorption, ensure the sealer is present on the surface as a mirror-like wet film for up to 30 minutes.

If the first coat is quickly absorbed by the surface, the second coat is applied immediately while the surface is still wet (wet-on-wet method). For porous and permeable concrete, this wet-on-wet application may be repeated until the surface is saturated with no further absorption of the sealer being achieved.

Remove excess sealer from the surface if it hasn’t been absorbed by the surface within 30 minutes. Any excess sealer on the surface may dry to unwanted residues that may become difficult to remove after the product is cured.

For better penetration, dilute DENSACRETE PREMIUM 1:1 with clean water before use. This may require additional wet-on-wet coats to reach saturation.

Apply a final coat after the previous application has cured for 24 hours. Avoid polishing after this stage, as it may reduce oil and water resistance. Reapply DENSACRETE PREMIUM if enhanced resistance is needed.

To achieve alternative polished finishes, apply a TECH-DRY oil and water repellent sealer as a final coat after polishing. For guidance, contact Tech-Dry on (03) 9699 8202.

Consumption Rate

Adjust the application rate of DENSACRETE PREMIUM based on the concrete’s porosity. Dense or newly poured concrete absorbs less sealer, while porous, permeable, or old concrete absorbs more. Expect a consumption rate between 5–20 m² per litre per coat, though actual usage may vary significantly outside this range.

After Application and curing

Curing begins immediately after you apply DENSACRETE PREMIUM. Allow at least 24 hours for initial curing and keep the surface free from heavy traffic during this time. For optimal densification and oil and water resistance, let the surface cure for 7 days or longer.

Performance Test

Evaluate the oil and water resistance of DENSACRETE PREMIUM using a capillary water absorption and oil staining test on polished concrete. Pre-polish the concrete with a 50 grit metal pad, then treat the surface with DENSACRETE PREMIUM following the application method outlined above.

The capillary water absorption results are shown in Figure 1. The results clearly show that DENSACRETE PREMIUM significantly reduces water absorption compared to untreated concrete.

Figure 1. Capillary water absorptions of the treated concrete & the control

The oil resistance performance is shown in the following oil staining test results. Olive oil, engine oil, and used engine oil are placed as oil droplets on to both treated and untreated concrete surfaces. The surfaces are then periodically checked for oil beading effect (indicating oil repellency, oil penetration and oil absorption). At 2, 6, and 24-hour intervals, the surfaces are checked for oil beading and staining. Treated surfaces show excellent resistance to oil absorption and significantly reduced staining compared to untreated controls.

Important Note

DENSACRETE PREMIUM penetrates concrete, blocks pores and capillaries, and hardens the surface while imparting oil and water resistance. However, surface hardening and resistance levels depend on site-specific conditions beyond the manufacturer’s control. Conduct a pilot test before full application to confirm product suitability. Handling & Storage

Wear appropriate protective gear to avoid skin or eye contact with DENSACRETE PREMIUM, an alkaline solution. Although vapour inhalation risk is low, use an air-purifying respirator if exposed to high vapour concentrations. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

Store the sealer in its sealed original container below 25°C and use it before the expiry date. Once opened, use the product as soon as possible to maintain performance.

Keep this product away from aluminium surfaces. Keep out of reach of children.

Packaging

DENSACRETE PREMIUM is available in 20 litre plastic containers. Other size packages are available on request.
