Tile Grout Sealer, a high‑quality silane/siloxane water‑repellent impregnant that penetrates deeply into masonry capillaries to render substrates water‑repellent. The treatment reduces absorption of water, efflorescence, and other staining agents that cause most masonry deterioration. It preserves the natural appearance and vapour permeability of substrates, though some surfaces may darken slightly.
Use Tile Grout Sealer as a water‑repellent treatment for tiles and grout. It suits ceramic and terracotta tiles, concrete and natural stone pavers, and other porous masonry substrates.
As masonry materials vary, conduct a test before application to determine the product’s suitability.
Read the product information to ensure correct application and safe handling. Do not apply if rain or extreme weather is expected. Ensure the surface is dry, firm, and free from grime, oil, or previous coatings/sealers. If necessary, wash the surface with a suitable detergent and water, then allow it to dry. Fill all cracks with appropriate grouting materials and allow them to cure before application. Conduct a test before application to determine the required number of coats and the appropriate consumption rate.
Apply Tile Grout Sealer using a brush, roller, or spray. For best results, use saturation flooding with a hand‑pressure or airless spray equipment. Ensure sufficient material is applied to the surface. On vertical surfaces, apply as a thin liquid film stream running down approximately 30–40 cm. Apply a second coat immediately after the first is absorbed; this ‘wet‑in‑wet’ method saturates the surface to improve penetration.
On horizontal surfaces, apply the product by flooding for about 10 minutes to allow penetration. If the substrate absorbs the sealer quickly after the first application, apply a second coat immediately. Remove any liquid remaining on the surface after 10 minutes to prevent excessive accumulation that may cause an uneven finish.
The required number of applications depends on substrate permeability. For dense surfaces, one coat may be sufficient. For more permeable substrates, apply two or more coats using the wet‑in‑wet method.
Avoid splashing or spraying the product onto areas not intended for treatment. If splashing occurs, remove it immediately with a cloth dampened in a suitable solvent such as mineral turpentine.
Tile Grout Sealer consumption varies with substrate permeability. Typical coverage is 2–20 m² per litre per coat, though actual rates may fall outside this range.
Initial water repellency develops once the surface is dry. Full curing requires 24 hours to 7 days. Avoid heavy traffic and staining for at least 24 hours. Clean application equipment with a suitable solvent such as mineral turpentine.
Due to the variation of building materials, conduct a pilot test on a small on‑site area before application to confirm product suitability.
Tile Grout Sealer penetrates into the capillaries and renders the surface water repellent while still leaving most of the capillaries open to allow water vapour to pass through. It reduces water absorption by capillary action but offers limited resistance under prolonged contact or hydrostatic pressure. On highly permeable substrates or in extreme wind‑driven rain, resistance to water penetration and water‑borne staining may be insufficient.
Tile Grout Sealer is hazardous and combustible. Refer to the material safety data sheet for safe handling. Follow standard industrial hygiene practices during use. Avoid vapour inhalation and skin or eye contact by wearing appropriate protective equipment. Use an air‑purifying respirator if exposure to high vapour concentrations is possible. Wash hands after handling. Store the product in closed containers in a cool, dry location away from fire or ignition sources. Shelf life is 12 months in the sealed original container at temperatures below 25 °C.
Use under sufficient ventilation away from any fire or ignition sources.
Keep out of reach of children.
Tile Grout Sealer is available in 5, 20 and 200 litre metal drums.
